10 CRAZY things i want to do in my life.....

There's one line which i have read somewhere, it says :-

You must Dream,Dream and Dream because Dreams transform into thoughts and thoughts result into action.

To become a doctor is ambition of my life but it is not included in this list because this list is all about those things about which I have not considered seriously, about those things which I have forgotten in this rat race of education.

There are so many things that I want to do in my life but I have shortened this list to ten. Some of these things are crazy, stupid or maybe childish. This list is increasing day by day..

1) To write a Book.

2) Invent something new.

3) Scuba Diving

4) Do something for animals.

5) To see whole India.

6) To wear a long red dress .

7) Learn how to bake cakes.
8)Take a vow of silence for one day.

9) Go on A Safari.

10) Drive A Ferrari.

What are your crazy dreams? Have you ever thought about them?

Make sure you don't forget them.

Satyamev Jayate !!

"Dil pe lagni chahiye yar, dil pe lagegi to baat banegi"
Says Amir Khan. Yes, so very true isn't it?

Things matter to us only when they touch our heart. We don't care about anything happening around us unless it is related to us. I Just watched Amir Khan's new TV show called "Satyamev Jayate". It is a really a beautiful concept. Discussing the social causes, victims telling their stories and finally the solution to the problem.

I guess it is only a few bollywood stars who are actively involved in charity. Only few names like Amir Khan, Amitabh Bacchhan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan etc. While in Hollywood, most of the stars are actively involved in Social causes for example, Angelina Jolie,Bradd Pitt, George clooney, Miley Cyrus,Justin Bieber, and many more.

(Above photo shows Angelina Jolie providing learning tools to the children of Afghanistan)

(Above image shows George Clooney, a very famous Hollywood star getting arrested for fighting for the human rights outside the sudanese embassy)

I think that it is their responsibility to give back something to the society which gives them so much of love and affection. There is so much to do but these actors give back so little to the society. They seem to be furthering their own or their childrens careers. Why are they so self absorbed? We also hear people buying the ipl teams for crores and crores of rupees. Then why they cant donate some?

"Satyamev Jayate"
How many of you know that this phrase appears on every rupee, every currency.
-Very few people must have noticed this.Even fewer must have understood its meaning. It means that "truth alone triumphs(wins)". This phrase reminds us that we are using our money only for the sake of truth and not for any bad deed.
And today we need a tv show to remind us of this?

This attempt is really nice. But I think that people will watch it for few days then forget everything about it.
What do you think?

Amir Khan has been working for social causes in a unique way.
I remember a movie "Taare Zameen Par" It was really wonderful and discussed the problem of dyslexics (children with learning disorder). Another movie "Three idiots" which discusses the problem of youth.Hats off to Amir Khan.

Starved to Death.

The vulture that waited for the child to die

Above photo shows a famine-stricken child crawling towards a United Nations food camp, which was located at least one kilometer away from the place shown. The vulture on the other hand is waiting eagerly for the child to die so that it can devour it.
Three months after he took the above photograph Kevin Carter, after suffering from several periods of depression, committed suicide.

Dated on the day the photo was taken, the following note was found from his diary:
Dear God,
I promise I will never waste my food no matter how bad it can taste and how full I may be.
I pray that He will protect this little boy, guide and deliver him away from his misery.
I pray that we will be more sensitive towards the world around us and not be blinded by our own selfish nature and interests.
I hope this picture will always serve as a reminder to us that how fortunate we are and that we must never ever take things for granted.

Although this photograph was taken in 1994, the condition today in 2012 is not very good, perhaps worse. Not that you see these conditions in countries like Africa,Sudan alone but also in developing countries like India also, Yes IN OUR INDIA, in Maharashtra,Melghat.

I know what you are thinking. Maybe you are thinking that I have gone mad because i am discussing this topic. Why do i have to care about it? I am not a social worker. I am not Anna Hazare. I am not Amir Khan. But I am a human being. I too have feelings. I feel that it is really sad that there are so many people on this earth who don't even get their basic needs. They are going through a really tough time.

I just read these unbelievable facts:-
- Every year 15 million children die of hunger (so per day 41,095 children)

- The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving

- Since you've entered this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year.

- Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.

Is it okay for us to waste food when most of the people are starving?? Ask yourself this question.

Even when i decided to write this blog post few days back, I could see people at a wedding "shooing" away the beggars and their children who asked for food. After the wedding I saw them throwing away large amount of food in the gutter. This is our mentality. Shame on us.

At least after I saw this photo I will never keep "names to the food" and never waste it no matter what. I hope you do the same.

Goodbye Rasna Girl :(

A cute little girl with sparkling eyes smiles and says " Mumma I want to be a heroine one day"

All her dreams were shattered when she passed away along with her mother this monday in a plane crash at Nepal. This is indeed a cruel dream. She was on a pilgrimage to muktinath temple located in Nepal.Such a tragedy.

Taruni Sachdev was eleven years old when she was first seen in the Rasna Advertisment where she says "I love you Rasna" The product became an instant hit.
Then there was no looking back. She then did almost 50 advertisements. Her face became popular. Then she even acted in several tamil films like vellinakshatram and sathya.
She was also seen in "paa" as auro's friend and a reality show "kya aap pachvi paas se tez hain"

Now she was bright a 14 year old teenager who was famous between the stars also her fans included Amitabh Bacchan, Abhishek Bacchan, Karisma Kapoor also.Amitabh expressed his thoughts on twitter saying that"Just reading that Taruni Sachdev the girl child artiste in Paa, has perished in Nepal plane crash. Please God may this not be." Abhishek also posted on the micro blogging site: "SHOCKED and very saddened to hear about the Nepal plane crash. Lost 1 of my cutest co-stars. Little Taruni Sachdev from PAA. Speechless."

A wonderful girl named "Taruni" died only when she was 14. Feeling really sad. :(

Rest in Peace Taruni

These are taken at different places like fields, garden, my house, through the window etc. Some of them are taken using my 2 megapixel mobile camera while others are taken using a digicam.

Poptropica

How many games are there on the net which give you knowledge and entertainment free ?
- very few indeed

I was just searching on google randomly when i came accross a really cool game called poptropica http://www.poptropica.com/

You have to create your very own character and start playing. It is free but if you want special features then you can get the membership by paying some amount (I advise not to waste your money).

There are many islands which have different interesting themes. Every island is facing some problem. You are the hero and you have to solve them. After solving the islands problem you get a medallion.

While playing this game you also get information side by side hence it is very interesting. For example you get information about the shark on shark tooth island. New island is introduced every month on poptropica.
My favorite ones are "time tangled island" and "shrink ray island". You can also talk to other members online and play multiplayer games with them. However the chatting is only using scripted chatbox.

You can add me in your friendlist my username is "kalyanii"

Here are my ratings to this game:-

GRAPHICS :- 7/10
THEMES/IDEAS:- 10/10
KNOWLEDGE:- 8/10
SAFETY:- 10/10
FUN:- 9/10
DIFFICULTY:- 6/10

Have fun !!!

A Book Review

"Behind every successful man, there is a woman"

The above line is proved again by a very good example of Sudha Murthy. Everyone knows Narayana Murthy- the founder of Infosys. How many of you know about his wife Sudha Murthy? I didnt know much about her until I recently read a book named "How I taught my grandmother to read and other stories by Sudha Murthy" I absolutely loved this book. It was written by her for children but it is soo good and heart touching book that everyone must read it. Simple use of English, natural style of writing make this book very enjoyable.

The first story of this book is about the writer's grandmother. She is an illiterate woman having deep desire for reading. A sixty two year old woman tells story of her childhood to twelve year old granddaughter and cries to learn. The little girl understands her granny's ambitions and teaches her to read kannada. The most touching incident is when she succesfully learns how to read and the grandmother touches the feet of her granddaughter at that time she says "I am not touching the feet of my granddaughter but of my teacher"

Likewise, there are many stories from the writers life which taught her some lessons, some beautiful values which we cannot learn in school. The writer is a teacher, she teaches computer science to post graduate students. Hence she meets many youngsters, as well as she meets people of all age groups due to social activities undertaken by Infosys foundation.

This book is available for Rs 150. Whenever someone buys this book the entire money goes to Ramkrishna mission ,Belgaum as a donation for youth development programme

Here is an extract from the book:-
“Sir, I am leaving TELCO.”
“Where are you going?”
“Pune, Sir. My husband is starting a company called Infosys. So I have to shift to Pune.”
“Oh! What will you do when you are successful?”
“Sir, I do not know whether we will be successful or not.”
“Never start with diffidence. Always start with confidence. When you are successful, you must give back to society. Society gives us so much, we must return it. I wish you all the best.”
Then JRD continued walking up the stairs.’
